Care & Data Safety
Last updated: 4 July 2026
This page explains two things: how we think about the boundary between "helpful organisational tool" and "veterinary advice", and how we protect the care data you trust us with. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, which go into more legal detail.
Pet Note is not veterinary advice
Pet Note is a pet care organisation app. It helps you log notes, dates, reminders, photos and documents in one place, and build a timeline of your pet's care. It is not a veterinary clinic, a veterinary telehealth service, a medical device, or a substitute for a qualified veterinarian.
This applies just as much to Care+, the small optional subscription that helps support the app and adds a health dashboard and AI-generated care summaries. Anything Care+ (or any other part of Pet Note) shows you, a score, a trend, a summary, a suggested question, is generated purely from what you've logged. It is not a diagnosis, a treatment recommendation, or a professional opinion, and it can only ever be as accurate and complete as the information you've put in.
Always check with a real vet
Before making any decision about diagnosis, treatment, medication, dosage, nutrition, preventive care, or anything else affecting your pet's health or safety, talk to a licensed veterinarian. Pet Note is built to help you organise information for that conversation, not to replace it.
In an emergency
If your pet is showing signs of illness, injury, poisoning or distress, or you're worried something is seriously wrong, contact a veterinarian or your nearest emergency animal hospital immediately. Don't wait on a reminder, a Care+ insight, or a reply from us, go straight to a professional.
The honest limits of Care+ insights
Care+ insights are only as good as your logging. If you log daily notes, weights and vet visits consistently, insights will reflect that. If you log occasionally, or skip weeks, the picture will be incomplete, and Pet Note has no way to know what wasn't logged. We'd rather you understood that limitation clearly than assume the app "knows" more about your pet than you've told it.
How we protect your care data
We take the security of your pet's records seriously, in a few concrete ways:
- Your data is stored on secure, encrypted servers located in Sydney, Australia.
- Row-level security means only your account can read or write your own records, not other users, and not us, by default.
- Photos and receipt images are kept in private storage and only ever served through short-lived signed links (valid for a maximum of around eight days).
- Your sign-in session is stored securely on your device (iOS Keychain or Android Keystore), and because Pet Note has no passwords, there's no password to be leaked or reused.
- Pet Note contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and we never sell your data.
Wondertree staff don't routinely access your content, access only happens if you ask us for support, or where we're required to by law. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Your role in keeping your data safe
Because Pet Note signs you in via Apple, Google or an email link rather than a password, the best thing you can do to protect your account is keep your Apple ID, Google account or email inbox secure, for example, with a strong passcode and two-factor authentication where available. We'd also suggest not entering information that isn't relevant to your pet's care, such as your own sensitive personal details or anyone else's, unless you have a good reason to and their permission.
How this page relates to our other policies
This page doesn't replace our Privacy Policy or Terms of Service, it summarises how we approach care and safety specifically. For the full legal detail on what we collect, how long we keep it, and the terms that govern your use of Pet Note, please read those pages too.
